A Dyadic & Attachment-Informed Framework
Learn a framework for case conceptualization and history taking that honors the unique relational and developmental changes of the perinatal period. This training moves beyond an individualised approach to consider the parent–infant dyad, recognising the importance of supporting the developing relationship between parent and infant.
Practical Tools for Clinical Application
Gain practical guidance on adapting the EMDR phases for perinatal clients, supported by video demonstrations, practical exercises and a detailed case example. Leave with resources you can immediately integrate into your own clinical practice.
Support Both Parent & Baby
Learn to support parental wellbeing and the developing parent–infant relationship simultaneously, while helping clients remain regulated, connected and emotionally available within the caregiving relationship.
About the Course
If you’re an EMDR therapist, you already understand the power of EMDR. But when working with clients during the perinatal period—pregnancy, birth and the postpartum years—the clinical picture can be more complex. The transition to parenthood can bring profound changes in identity, attachment, relationships and emotional regulation, while previous trauma and unresolved experiences may become newly activated. This is where a deeper understanding of perinatal adaptations to EMDR becomes invaluable. Designed by EMDRAA Accredited EMDR Trainer, Dr Jacinta Hatton, this advanced training is for EMDR therapists who want to develop greater confidence and clinical skill in working with perinatal clients. In up to four hours of training, you'll learn to conceptualise perinatal presentations through the Adaptive Information Processing (AIP) model, while considering the needs of both the individual client and the developing parent–infant dyad. The training explores practical adaptations across history taking, case conceptualisation, target selection, preparation and treatment planning, alongside a detailed case example, video demonstrations and practical exercises. Move beyond simply knowing how to use EMDR—and develop a deeper understanding of how, when and why to adapt your approach for perinatal clients.
